About Primate C.A.R.E.

All profits made will go to help the orphaned baboons at CARE!

For over three decades, the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education (CARE), has pioneered the rehabilitation and release of chacma baboons in South Africa, as well as a myriad of other smaller wildlife species.

Situated on the banks of the beautiful Olifants River, the centre was founded by the late Rita Miljo, who asked a simple question: “Why wait until a species is on the brink of extinction before we try to help?”

Rita bequeathed CARE to her trusted assistant Stephen Munro, who currently runs the centre alongside a small team of hard-working volunteers. Now more than ever, they need our help. Coronavirus has changed all our lives in so many ways, but for a charity that runs largely on volunteers, South Africa going into lockdown and closing its borders has had, and will continue to have, a huge impact. C.A.R.E still need to feed, clean, medicate and enrich the lives of all the wonderful baboons being rehabilitated and awaiting release. They still need to pay their great local staff. Without overseas volunteers joining, they are increasingly unable to cover the day to day running costs. Please consider buying
